Product Release: Omnis 7.5 & REST API

Acre Security is pleased to announce the release of Omnis 7.5 and Omnis REST API, a new software extension for the core software.

New Products

Two new products are to be released in conjunction with Omnis 7.5 and will be available shortly.

What's new?

  The full lists of new features and updates are available in each respective Release Note and can be found (in Swedish) under the Documentation-tab here. Changes can be summarized as:  

1.000 TCP/IP Connections

The maximum number of TCP/IP-connections has been increased from 700 to 1.000.

• Management of PC-resources have further been optimized to ensure stability with the increased amount of connections.
• Minor improvements made in the Operator's program to reduce load-times in key areas most affected by the increased amount of connections.
• Requires the following license (5 pcs): VGBI:10726

1.000 Geographical Areas

The maximum number of Geographical Areas has been increased from 200 to 1.000, to allow each connection its own Geographical Area.

Alarm Graphics

The following improvements have been made for Alarm Graphics.

• Support for .PDF files as underlays for the site drawings.
• Support for rotation. If interactive icons (Doors, Detectors, Cameras, Map Links etc.) have been added, these will follow the rotation. Fine tuning icons may be necessary depending on the anchoring point.
• The dialog window for Definition of Alarm Graphics is no longer fixed to one size and can be adjusted to more easily work with larger images.

SIA Codes

The dialog window for SIA Codes has been reworked to provide support for new features and easier management.

• 2 custom SIA Codes can now be added and linked to new and existing Input Functions.
• The names/descriptions of all SIA codes can now be changed, allowing further customization.
• A new 'Show Usage' list is now available, displaying where each SIA Code is being used.
• Added an easy way to restore all/individual SIA Codes to default settings.
• Global Change History now includes changes to SIA Codes.
• System security report enhanced to show old/new data for changes in SIA Codes.

Support for RUT241 

The existing support for Ethernet-connected SMS transmitters have been expanded to include RUT241. This is now reflected in the User Interface. The manual for configuration of RUT240 is updated to include instructions for RUT241.

Support for Omnis REST API

A new REST-based interface has been implemented for external communication with the Omnis API. The module requires an external Web Server, i.e. Microsoft Internet Services (IIS).

• List all available Doors, Alarm Groups, Control Channels
• Status for individual Doors, Alarm Groups, Control Channels
• Door commands: Set door open, Pulse open, Close
• Alarm Group commands: Set, Unset
• Control Channel commands: On, Off, Auto

Improvements in the Standard Database

The following improvements have been made to the standard database.

• Event Reports related to intrusion events are now by default set to appear under Intrusion events instead of General events in the PC Event Queue, assuming reporting to PC is enabled.

Improvements in the Operator's Program

Performance improvements.

• Load-time for the Door Control-window with 1.400 - 4.000 doors reduced from ~33s to ~2s.
• Time to delete cardholder/card/code from Trash Bin reduced by ~80% and the progress is now displayed in a more responsive manner.
• Logging in with a network client now goes 2x - 10x faster depending on database size and network environment
• Load-time for Report: Person Registry including the selection 'Access To' reduced from ~150s to ~2s for a server with 500 connections. Similar improvements are expected for approx. 40 other lists where Controllers are listed similarily in dropdown-menus.
• Load-time for the Alarm Control-window with 1.000+ Alarm Groups reduced from ~150s to ~10s.
• Load-time for Definition of Alarm Graphics with 700 - 1.000 connections reduced by approx 99%.

Connection Status Window

• Improved overview of connection status for Controllers.
• Status in bottom left corner improved to better summarize status for large amounts of connections
• Size of the Status-window is now adjustable
• Improved information per controller
• Connection name and IP-address separated to their own columns.
• Enabled sorting per column, allowing for easier searchability with large quantities.

General Improvements

• Controller- and Door addresses can be made visible in the Door Control-window.
• Improved displaying of Doors, Alarm Groups, Control Channels when 'Sort on Geographical Areas' is active.
• A validation for correct installation has been added. If any of the necessary parameters are missing, a warning is shown during startup of the Operator's Program.
• Updated color theme to align with acre Security.
• Improved display of users in the Connected Users-window through a better updating mechanism.
• The size of the Connected Users-window is now adjustable.
• In Definition of Person, the width of the dropdown-menu displaying Organization/Department now automatically adjusts to fit the longest name available.

Improvements in the Installation Package

Silent Installation

To ease the installation of multiple clients at once, an option to perform a silent installation is now available. Instructions for the procedure are available in the file ClientInstaller_Instructions.txt, included in the install package.

Optional installation/uninstallation of Java components

The remaining Java-components required to run some of the DVR/NVR-integration in Omnis are removed from the default installation. However, the installation files are still included in the package, allowing those who still need Java-components on their site to install the necessary components.

General Improvements

• Added template file containing commands to run extended logging when/if necessary.
• Updated digital signing of install package.

Bug Fixes

• PC Users can no longer see live video without the proper access rights to the feature (#10425)
• Removal of a single Person or Card/Code now requires the same confirmation as removing multiples (#11651).
• Easier removal of Organizations and Departments that are still linked to a PC User's Access Rights (#11661).
• Improved performance of the Server Event Queue Settings.
• The Input type "Local Egress button VIP" was missing a link to its SIA Code. It now links to the same SIA Code as regular egress buttons.
• Unknown codes are once again shown in clear text in the Event Log.
• Corrected the behavior of some checkboxes, where the box could appear clickable when it shouldn't.
• The sorting of Connections and Controllers in the Log Filter-selection now follow numerical order without taking into account the number of digits (i.e. 1 no longer jumps to 11 before 2,3,4,5...) (#11722).
• The list of drawings/site maps in Alarm Graphics is now sorted alphabetically (#11686).
• Corrected the color codes for different types of Connected Users.
• Corrected behavior where defining access rights to an Organization for PC User Groups could revert from 'Yes' to 'No' after saving (#11720).
• Corrected data for the log event where an Event Group has been changed.
• Minor visual improvements/corrections in the Operator's Program.

Security vulnerabilities

The following security vulnerabilities have been adressed.

• Log4j in the optional installation of Java-components has been replaced with Reload4j version 1.2.26. Existing users that still need the Java-components are recommended to reinstall the components using the new DVRInstall.cmd. This will replace any remaining Log4j files in existing installations, resolving the following vulnerabilities:

• CVE-2022-23302
• CVE-2019-17571
• CVE-2020-9493
• CVE-2022-23307
• CVE-2022-23305
• CVE-2020-9488

For Omnis Discovery Tool, its RapidJSON components have been updated to the latest version to resolve the following vulnerability:

• CVE-2024-38517

Fixes in Omnis API 7.5

Corrected a scenario where setting the VIP-flag for a User via the API instead of the Operator's Program would fail to send the flag to the E100 Controller.

How to Upgrade

There are different options for upgrading to Omnis 7.5, depending on what version is available before upgrading. Once upgraded, any potential Service Packs or Hotfixes for version 7.5 will continue to be included regardless of upgrade path. 

From Version 7.x

With a valid ULA

Omnis 7.5 is included in all ULA’s that were valid on the release date of Omnis 7.5 as defined in the Release Notes (2026-07-14), even if they have expired since, following regular activation process. 

Puchasing new ULA

New ULA’s will include Omnis 7.5. The validity period of the ULA will begin retroactively from the creation date for the original Omnis 7.x license. 

One-Time Upgrade

One-time upgrade is available from Omnis 7.x to 7.5. An additional license will once again have to be purchased to move from version 7.5 to any newer versions. 

From Version 6.2 or 6.3

New License

Versions 6.2 and 6.3 will need a new version 7.x Base License. See below list of Base Licenses for available options.

From Version 6.1 and older
