ACT365 ACU Firmware v1.08.12

acre Security is pleased to announce the release of ACT365ACU Firmware version v1.08.12. This firmware is available for download via the ACT365 cloud portal. Firmware version 1.08.12 strengthens our commitment to quality and reliability by delivering improved system stability, enhanced communication robustness, and overall performance.

What's new in version 1.08.12

      Core System Enhancements

• Fixed a potential memory leak in the enhanced cardholder cache.
• Fixed misleading diagnostic messages in card and PIN lookup logs.
• Fixed TLS date verification handling.
• Fixed the removal of duplicate Watchdog event logging.
• Improved operating system error capture mechanisms to persist through system resets
• Improved HTTP client and cloud stack string parsing and boundary validation.
• Improved interrupt service routine (ISR) queue management with overflow protection and increased stack allocation.
• Improved post-mortem diagnostics via extended logging and stack context preservation.
• Improved error reporting with task identification and correlated error codes.
  
  Network and Security 

• Improved DNS configuration — default DNS is now set to 8.8.8.8.
  • Acts as a fallback when no DNS is provided by a DHCP server.
  • The on-site router continues to define the region-appropriate DNS configuration.
  • The previous default (OpenDNS) has been deprecated and is no longer recommended in certain regions.
  • Effective June 28, 2024, OpenDNS was blocked in France and Portugal, following a court order issued under article L.333–10 of the French Sport Code.
• Upgraded WolfSSL TLS stack to version 5.8.2.
• Improved REST HTTP cloud connection handling using the new TLS API.
• Improved AWS certificate chain handling for modern CA verification.
• Improved WolfSSL configuration for ACT365ACU while maintaining TLS 1.3 compliance.
  • Removed insecure legacy protocols (SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0/1.1) and RC4 cipher support.
  • Verified TLS 1.3 handshake compatibility.

  Upgrade Notes / Deployment Guidance

• No database migration or schema changes required.
• Devices running previous firmware versions can be updated directly to this release..
• After installation, verify DNS resolution and cloud connectivity if using static IP assignments.
