Product Release - Acre Access Control v26.5.11, Classic Client v26.5.11

Badge Access Level Sync Workflow

Product: acre Access Control – Gallery

We're introducing the Badge Access Level Sync Workflow — a new Gallery package that makes it easy to keep your issued badges aligned with the Access Level configuration defined on your Badge Types.

Previously, when Access Levels or Access Level Groups were added to or removed from a Badge Type, those changes were not automatically reflected on badges already issued to people. Applying those updates required manual effort and, in systems with large numbers of Access Levels, could cause performance problems.

This package resolves both issues by moving the sync process server-side and giving operators full visibility and control over what changes before anything is applied.

Preview Before You Apply

Run a Badge Access Level Sync Report or Badge Access Level Group Sync Report to see exactly which badges would be affected — and how — before committing any changes.

Apply at Scale

Sync Access Level additions and removals across all existing badges for one or more Badge Types in a single operation. The same capability is available for Access Level Groups.

Bulk Actions on Badge Types

A new bulk action is available directly from the Badge Type List widget, so you can trigger a sync without leaving your normal workflow. Bulk actions are also available from within the Sync Report grid itself, letting you target specific rows.

Scheduled Reconciliation

Set up recurring syncs to ensure issued badges continuously reflect their Badge Type definitions — ideal for large environments where drift can accumulate over time.

Why This Matters

                                           Before                                                    After
Access Level changes on a Badge Type had to be manually propagated to existing badgesSync is triggered with a single action across all affected badges
Large Access Level sets caused performance issues during local syncProcessing is handled server-side for reliable performance at scale
No scheduled reconciliationRecurring syncs can be configured to run automatically

How to Get Started

The Badge Access Level Sync Workflow is available as an installable package from the Gallery. Once installed, the sync functionality appears under the Sync Access Levels and Sync Access Level Groups tabs within the Badge Type widget.

Note: This package replaces the previous in-UI sync table for Access Levels on Badge Types.

Badge Printing Audit Log & Report

Product: acre Access Control – Classic Client & Unified Client (UC)

acre Access Control now records audit log events whenever a badge is printed from the Badge Preview panel, across both the Classic Client and the Unified Client (UC). This gives administrators a clear, timestamped record of badge printing activity tied to each person's profile. A dedicated Badge Printing Audit Report is also now available.

Classic Client

When a user initiates a print from the Badge Preview tab in the Classic Client, the following events are recorded in Event History:

                                                  Event                                        When It Is Recorded
Badge Print AttemptedA print job is started from the print dialog
Badge PrintedThe print job completes successfully
Badge Print FailedThe print job fails or is cancelled

The printer name is captured alongside each event where possible. If the printer name cannot be determined, it will appear as [Unknown].

Unified Client – UC Web

The same badge print events are recorded in the UC. However, due to browser security limitations, the behaviour on UC Web differs slightly:

                                        Event                                  When It Is Recorded
Badge Print AttemptedWhen the print button is pressed, before the print dialog opens
Badge PrintedWhen the print dialog is closed, regardless of whether the print succeeded, failed, or was cancelled

Note: Because of browser security restrictions, the printer name cannot be captured on UC Web, and it is not possible to distinguish between a successful print, a failed print, or a cancellation. The Badge Print Failed event is not raised on UC Web.

Badge Printing Audit Report

A dedicated Badge Print Report is now available, providing a full audit trail of badge printing activity across your organization. The report covers attempted prints, successful prints, and failed prints.

Users can filter the report by:

  • Date the badge was printed
    • Event type (Attempted, Printed, or Failed)
      • Badge Type
        • Badge Type by Access Level
          • Badge Type by Reader
            • Users who printed the badges
              • People the badges were printed for
                • Card number printed on the badges

This report helps organizations detect misuse, duplicate prints, or unauthorized badge creation. It is available as an installable package from the Gallery.

                  Where to Find It

Badge print events appear in the Event History for the relevant person record.

Audit logging is automatic — no additional configuration is required.

Controller Status Widget – Enhanced Navigation & Detail

The Controller Status widget has been significantly enhanced. You can now view 17 controller statuses at a glance, each represented by a clickable icon. Clicking a status icon opens a detail panel showing the specific controllers in that state.

                   Controller statuses tracked:

                                                              Status                                            Applies To

Note: If a controller's status is unknown, it will not appear in the list. This is by design.

The detail panel for each controller displays:

                  • Display Name
                    • Type
                      • Status
                        • MAC Address

People in Area Widget – Auto-Refresh Fix

A bug has been resolved where the People in Area widget was not automatically refreshing based on its configured time frame. The widget now correctly updates at the frequency set in its configuration, without requiring a manual refresh or other workaround.

Allegion Engage GWE2 Gateway Support & Improvements

                                      • Classic Client can now identify and classify ENGAGE Gateways as GWE1 or GWE2
                                        • GWE2 gateways support a maximum of five linked locks
                                          • GWE1 gateways continue to support up to ten linked locks
                                          • Classic Client supports RSI Mode or IP Mode, with the GWE1/GWE2 identification method depending on the communication mode in use.
                                            • IP Mode - When a gateway is imported from a site, the gateway version is identified and saved automatically. If manually adding an IP gateway, a Serial Number is now required to save the entry.
                                              • RSI Mode  - Gateway version is determined from the serial number entered by the user. The Serial Number field is mandatory when adding or editing an RSI-mode gateway.
                                                • Serial Numbers must begin with B1 (for GWE1) or B2 (for GWE2), for total of 16 characters.
                                                  • Existing gateway entries where no serial number has been set will default to GWE1 classification.
                                                  • IP Mode Gateway: Firmware Upgrade - Correct Version Now Enforced
                                                    • Firmware update options are now specific to the gateway model identified by the serial number.
                                                      • Prior to updating firmware, the system now requires that any pending changes to the serial number are saved before a firmware update can proceed. If unsaved changes are detected, the upgrade action will be blocked until the record is saved.
                                                        • Tooltip guidance on the Serial Number field has been updated to ensure correct entry of serial number.

                                                        New Package Licensing Flow

Product: acre Access Control - Unified Client (UC)

                                                        What's New

The licensing flow for Premium Gallery packages has been redesigned. Previously, users were required to pre-purchase Gallery Points before being able to install a Premium package. This process has been reversed to create a simpler, more intuitive experience.

                                                        How It Works Now

                                                        Installing a Premium Package

When a user with the appropriate permissions clicks Install on a Premium Gallery package, a confirmation dialog is displayed showing:

                                                        • The number of Gallery Points required for the installation
                                                          • A statement that installation will trigger licensing and recurring annual billing
                                                            • The Gallery Item Licence Agreement, which must be accepted before proceeding

If the user cancels, no installation or licensing occurs. If the user accepts, the package is installed and Gallery Points are automatically licensed at that same moment - no separate licensing step is required.

                                                              Points Display

The Gallery will always show Points Available: 0 / [X], where X represents the total points currently licensed based on installed packages. This updates automatically when packages are installed, updated, or uninstalled.

                                                              Upgrading a Package

Upgrading a Premium package is included under the annual recurring fee as long as the point cost remains the same. If a new version requires additional points, the difference is automatically applied.

                                                              Uninstalling a Package

When a Premium package is uninstalled, the corresponding Gallery Points license is automatically removed. The Points display resets accordingly.

                                                              Email Notifications

Users with appropriate permissions receive an email confirmation when a package is installed or uninstalled, including the number of points added or removed from the license.

                                                              Permissions

Installing, updating, or uninstalling Premium packages that carry a Gallery Points cost requires a user to have permission rights for Licensing on Instances. Users without these permissions can still install, upgrade, downgrade, and uninstall packages that have a zero point cost.

                                                              Report Updates

Two reports have been updated to include additional instance information:

Detailed Instance Package Installs Report (found in the Gallery Installs Report Package) now includes the Instance Name, Parent Instance Name, and their respective IDs.

Acre Wallet Report (found in the License Report Package) now includes the Instance IDs for both the VAR instance and the end-user instance.

                                                              Bug Fixes

Unnecessary error message when uninstalling a Gallery package An error message was being incorrectly displayed when uninstalling a package from the Gallery. This has been resolved and uninstallation now completes without an erroneous error.

Admin users can now manage any Gallery package Administrators can now change Gallery package ownership and uninstall or update any Gallery package, regardless of which user originally installed it.

                                                              Bug Fixes

Bug Fix: Badge Types Not Applying Access Levels to People

                                                              What was the issue:

                                                              • When applying a Badge Type to a Person record in the Classic Client, the Access Levels associated with that Badge Type were not being automatically added to the Person. This affected all Badge Types configured with associated Access Levels.

                                                                What has been fixed:

                                                                • Applying a Badge Type to a Person record now correctly and automatically assigns all configured Access Levels to that Person, as expected.

Bug Fix: Live Monitoring Stops Receiving Events After Sleep or Network Change; Logout Causes Application Freeze

What was the issue: Two related issues were affecting the Classic Client:

                                                                  • After a device woke from sleep, or a network connection was interrupted and restored, Live Monitoring, Visual Verification, Floorplans, and other real-time event views would stop receiving events. The only way to recover was to fully restart the application.
                                                                    • Logging out and back in without restarting the application caused the entire UI to freeze, requiring the application to be force-closed via Task Manager.

What has been fixed: Two issues have been resolved:

                                                                      • The Classic Client now automatically detects when a device wakes from sleep or when a network connection is restored, and rebuilds the event connection within seconds. A background health check also monitors the connection and rebuilds it if needed.
                                                                        • The logout and login cycle has been corrected so that the application remains fully functional after logging back in, with no freezing or degradation across repeated cycles.

This maintenance release contains bug fixes and other improvements. Full release notes can be found at https://acre.my.site.com/knowledgearticles/s/article/acre-Access-Control-Release-Notes.
